Five new places to try this weekend

I love trying new things whether it is a recipe or a new restaurant. Ever since I’ve moved out by myself I have found a passion for cooking and appreciating food more than I ever thought I would. South Florida has many good restaurants, whether it is a fine dining experience or a hole in the wall. I love to spend my weekends trying a new place, so as of today I haven’t repeated a visit to many of the restaurants that I’ve already been to. There are just so many other places to try! Although there have been some that blown me away and I’ve gone back to. If you want to go to a new place this weekend here are some restaurants you can try:

1. Thai Spice

Located at 1514 E Commercial Blvd Fort Lauderdale. If you want to try exotic Thai this is the place to go. The Grilled Calamari as an appetizer is a must. The red curry chicken, the samron shrimp, and pad thai are exquisite. The seafood is very fresh and the portions are large enough to share with others.

2. Tap 42

Located at 1411 South Andrews Blvd Fort Lauderdale. This place’s atmosphere is very hip and fun with outside seating and they tend to play a lot of modern rock music. I consider the prohibition burger the best entrée they have in their menu. They also have a large selection of craft beers on tap. I also heard brunch is to die for so will definitely need to come back.

3. Havana Hideout

Located at 509 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth FL. It is a hip local hangout with tiki huts and Latin eats from a kitchen in a truck. Also, on the weekends they have music playing. For those food network lovers, you will recognize this place from Diners, Drive ins and Dives, so as a food lover myself, I had to check this place out. I was blown away by the beef empanadas! They were certainly the best empanadas I ever had. The Get what Guy Got Platter is a good choice. It gets you to try the same dishes Guy Fieri tried, which includes: ½ of a Cuban sandwich, one grill fish taco, and ½ of pionono. The atmosphere and the empanadas were certainly my favorite about this place. But if you are looking for an authentic Cuban restaurant, this is not the place.

4. Atlantic Pho

Located at 5408 W Atlantic Blvd Margate. You know a restaurant is good when people are regular customers and if most of the customers are from the country of the food. Make sure you order the pho noodle soup, Vietnamese crepes, a banh mi and Thai tea in order to get the real Vietnamese experience. The banh mi sandwich is personally my favorite.

5. Alegria Tacos

Located at 38-1 N Andrews Ave Fort Lauderdale. I have to save the best for last. This place is one of my favorites. Who said that in order to have good food you need to spend a lot of money? That is not the case with this restaurant. This place is a little hole in the wall. It is family run and there are probably only 3 tables inside. The tacos have been one of the best tacos I have ever had. The steak tacos are definitely my favorite. I also heard the menudo soup is amazing. The service is very friendly they sure know how to treat their customers. Definitely one of the top places in my list. Cheap and good.
