Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
When in Miami, there are many other places to visit if you want to take a break from the beach. Today, I will share one of these many places with you. A museum with a garden, a house that takes you back to 1920’s in Miami. Yes, I’m talking about the famous Vizcaya Museums and Gardens . If you are planning on visiting Miami in the near future I suggest you add Vizcaya to your bucket list of things to do!
Just to give you a quick overview, the Vizcaya villa belonged to business man James Deering . The house has a design and architecture inspired by Italian Renaissance. In 1952, the Miami Dade County acquired the villa and the gardens. In 1998, it was turned into a museum and has been one of the most popular museums to visit in Miami and also a popular wedding and photo shoot venue. Vizcaya is worth the visit! You can either walk the house and museum yourself or take a guided tour of the house.
So, if you have an interest for the Renaissance era or you wish to go back in time to Miami in the 1920’s, take a ride to South Miami where you will find this beautiful mansion overlooking Biscayne Bay.
