Dianas Notes from the City

Pool day in South Florida

Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA lately… but I’ve been very busy with work and other stuff. A few weekends ago I took advantage of some of the sunny/hot weekends we have been having lately in South Florida, and I went to the Venetian Pool Has anyone been to the Venetian Pool?

Venetian Pool is a historic swimming pool located in Coral Gables and inspired by Venice lagoons. It was built in 1924 and it uses fresh water from artesian wells. It is a must  see if you live around the Miami area or if you are looking for something new and fun to do with your kids or as a grown up. Children must be three years old to get in; children age 3-12 cost $7, adults age 13-up a fee of $12. They have a little sandy  beach area for anyone who wants to enjoy some time out of the water, or for kids who want to run around. You can also rent lockers and beach chairs. So it’s definitely worth a visit if you live in Sunny South Florida! Mostly if you have kids who will enjoy splashing beneath a waterfall pouring over a rock and playing hide and seek in the caves. There’s even a Venetian style bridge that connects to a palm tree concrete island where you can lounge on lawn chairs if you are not in the mood to go in the water.

The reason it fascinates me is because is the only pool listed in the National Register of Historic Places and because as an engineer I can appreciate how this pool uses fresh water. So still not sure what to do this summer? I highly recommend you plan a visit to the Venetian Pool.
