Spend a Day in Nature

One of my favorite places to go to in South Florida is definitely Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden . Fairchild , located in Coral Gables, is an 83-acre botanic garden with extensive collections of rare tropical plants. The daytime fee for adults is $25.00, for children 6-17 is $12, and children 5 and under is free in case you were wondering. Fairchild also has sponsored a series of exhibits by artists like Dale Chihuly, whose exhibit is currently happening now until May 31st. So, if you enjoy glass sculptures, I definitely recommend you check this exhibit out! At Fairchild Tropical Garden You can walk garden paths, see butterflies and birds, experience the butterfly and hummingbird exhibit, take a tour, or take a moment to sit and enjoy nature. If you don’t feel like doing much walking, you can also take a free tram tour which gives an excellent overview of the Garden. Fairchild Tropical Garden also hosts several festivals throughout the year like the International Chocolate Festival, the International Mango Festival, The Butterfly festival, the Orchid festival, and many others. I definitely planned on checking out one of these festivals sometime this year.  Some of the garden collections and exhibits include The Tropical Plant Conservatory and Rare Plant House where you can find rare palms, cycads, ferns, orchids, fruit trees, and unusual vines. In the William F. Whitman Tropical fruit Pavilion you will find the most exotic tropical fruit species like durians, vanilla, chocolate, mangosteens, and many others. In the Sibley Victoria Pool you can appreciate water lilies. From the overlook and alley, you can enjoy a panoramic of lakes with mangroves in the far distance. Fairchild also features 11 lakes and seven pools. These are just some of the many exhibits you can enjoy at Fairchild. If you are a nature lover like myself, or you want to visit a new place in South Florida, Fairchild Tropical Garden is definitely worth a visit.
